Cooltown is a cinematic electronic music project blending progressive house, melodic techno, trance, and underground rave energy into an immersive world built on emotion, movement, and escapism.
The roots of the project trace back to the early days of Los Angeles rave culture, where a first exposure to artists like Headhunterz opened the door to a lifelong obsession with electronic music. Already deeply connected to trance through albums like Just Be by Tiësto, the journey quickly expanded into the euphoric worlds of Dash Berlin, OceanLab, Basshunter, Eiffel 65, Deadmau5, and Mord Fustang, artists whose melodies, atmosphere, and digital energy helped shape the DNA of Cooltown.
Long before stepping into the artist project, Cooltown was built through years immersed in underground dance music culture, promoting and helping produce hundreds of club events throughout Portland, Oregon before eventually evolving into an independent brand focused entirely on music, visuals, radio, and community.
Inspired heavily by video game soundtracks, futuristic cityscapes, rave nostalgia, and emotional storytelling, every Cooltown record, mix, and visual is designed to feel like stepping into another dimension, balancing euphoric melodies, deep grooves, cinematic tension, warmth, and underground energy inside the project’s signature yellow-lit aesthetic.
That yellow identity traces all the way back to the earliest rave days, beginning with the very first all-yellow rave outfit worn long before Cooltown officially existed. Over time, the color evolved into a symbol of the project itself: optimism, escapism, nostalgia, and a beacon guiding Citizens deeper into the world of Cooltown.
With more than 150 original productions, 30+ signed releases, and over 250 episodes of the long-running PFB Radio series, Cooltown continues evolving as an independent electronic music world built for dreamers, ravers, and Citizens around the globe. 💛
